The Westlake Book Club talk was canceled due to terrible road conditions and whiteouts. Some members, as well as myself, had a long commute. Club host, Dottie P. made the wise descision to reshedule. The good news is, Dottie and I had a wonderful phone conversation about books and writing. Members, see you at the reschedule.
Nice article in theVillager Newspaper's Book Nook featuring Rum Run. Thank you, publisher Bob for another fine article. Check out the Villager Newspaper. It is full of information on the surrounding communities.
Friends Bill and Bonnie C. sent me a link to some awesome tugboat photos from the Cleveland area. Many of these tugs were built in 1904-1930s and are still in use. The Great Lakes towing company is mentioned in my book, and these tugs are like the ones my characters worked on in Rum Run.
They are real beauties, and I was sad to read some are/were going to be scrapped and glad many, like the Ohio are being refitted. Wish I had the money to buy one doomed for scrap and fix it up for personal use. This photograph of the Rhode Island I took in 2010 is just like the ones I am talking about . A fine looking boat.
During the ice sculpture festival in Vermilion, we stopped by the Vermilion Boat Club's open house. I always wanted to see inside. Perfect opportunity. Member Jim gave us a tour of the place and it is really nice and bigger inside than it looks from the outside. A crackling fire was inviting in the center fireplace and the members were very nice and welcoming. When they found out I am an author who wrote a book about rum running on Lake Erie with Vermilion as one of the places in the story, they got excited and want to book me for an event there. I am looking forward to it, also. It was great meeting you Jim, Janice, Lori-the club's rear commodore, Jeanette (from Liverpool, England) and John. I had a fun time talking with you. Nice club. Glad I dropped in. Vi...
Marketing my book (as always). Making new contacts and following up on others. Got an encouraging e-mail from MSC publisher, Gene who said I am doing a good job marketing and to hang in there. Just got to get the word out and get it to spread. If you read the book and liked it,
please spread the word or write a review on Amazon or Barnes & Noble. You don't need a long review, you can just give a few words or a star rating. I am also on Goodreads. And don't forget to "like" me on my Facebook's author's page. Thanks. I really appreciate the support.
